There is a mesh pre-filter at the top of your Showerhead Pro. It is located under the black o-ring and is essential to keep your Showerhead Pro working efficiently by stopping large sediments from entering the filtration system. Over time, limescale and sediments can build up, reducing your water pressure.
Here's our step-by-step troubleshooting process. We recommend starting with method 1 and working your way through the methods if your aerator is still stuck.
Method 1: Scrub Away Buildup
-
Use an old toothbrush dipped in hot, soapy water
-
Remove the mesh filter grate and scrub it gently to loosen limescale/mineral buildup
Method 2: Vinegar Soak
-
Mix vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio in a plastic bag
-
Drop the mesh filter in and soak 12-24 hours
Method 3: Citric Acid / Descaler Solution
For citric acid
-
Mix ½ tsp citric acid and ¾ cup of water
-
Drop the mesh filter in and soak 12-24 hours
For coffee maker descaler
- Follow instructions of bottle
Method 4: CLR / Acidic Cleaner
-
Use calcium/lime removal product as directed
-
Use an old toothbrush dipped in hot, soapy water to scrub
Method 5: Degreaser
-
Use the degreaser product as directed. Spray or apply to the mesh pre-filter screen
-
Wash and rinse thoroughly before reinstalling
⚠️Fully remove the mesh pre-filter screen before cleaning it. You may damage the finish on your Showerhead Pro if you do not. Clean thoroughly afterward to remove all residue.
